Hartsville was an important point upon the ecclesiastical map of a century and a quarter ago.

"The Neshaminy church of Warwick" was one of the earliest religious organizations in the

state and the second Presbyterian society in the county. The congregation, composed of

immigrants from Ireland, was collected and organized by Reverend William Tennent in 1726.

Born in Ireland he came to America in 1716, and connected himself with the Presbyterian
