JOSEPH J. CAVANAUGH SR.

 

JOSEPH J. CAVANAUGH SR. of Coopersburg died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2003, in St. Luke's Quakertown Hospital. He was 48.

He was the husband of JANICE A. (LONG) CAVANAUGH. They were married 27 years in July.

Born in Shamokin, Pa., he was the son of the late JAMES J. SR. and MARY ELIZABETH (SMITH) CAVANAUGH.

Mr. Cavanaugh was a supervisor for Moyer Packing Co. in Souderton for 26 years.

He was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Limeport and a lifetime member of Liberty Hose Co. in Shamokin.

He was an avid hunter and fisherman and also enjoyed gardening and cooking.

Mr. Cavanaugh was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, having served during peacetime.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, JOSEPH J. JR. at home; a daughter, JESSICA M. of Lancaster; four brothers, JAMES J. JR. and FRANCIS E., both of Harrisburg, THOMAS J. of Niles, Mich., and DENNIS J. of Shamokin; and two sisters, LINDA M. KLINGER of Danville and CHERYL ANN DORMER of Shamokin.

A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 19, at St. Joseph's Catholic Church in Limeport. Calling hours will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday in C.R. Strunk Funeral Home, 821 W. Broad St., Quakertown.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Cavanaugh Children's Educational Trust Fund, c/o Quakertown National Bank, P.O. Box 9005, Quakertown, PA 18951.
