Emerson M. Swartley

Emerson M. Swartley, a longtime resident of Hilltown Township, died Jan. 7, 2002 in Abington Memorial Hospital following a brief illness. He was 77.

He was the husband of 56 years to Esther Grace (Moyer) Swartley.

Born in Buckingham Township, he was a son of the late William Henry and Ida (Myers) Swartley.

Mr. Swartley was a commission merchant in Northeast Philadelphia, before working 18 years in the maintenance department at Foulkeways Retirement Center at Gwynedd. He retired in 1992.

He was a longtime member of Blooming Glen Mennonite Church where he was a former usher. He attended the local Christian Business men's meetings and was a former member of the Pennsylvania Butter and Egg Association.
