Springfield was organized in 1743. Passor Community Building

The earliest purchase of land that has met our notice, although there were settlers there several years before, was made in 1737, when the tract on which Houpt's mill stands was surveyed to Hohn Hughes, but it was patented to William Bryan in 1758.

Springfield is not only one of the largest, but one of the most populous, townships in the county. In 1784 it contained 979 inhabitants, and 160 dwellings.

Village near central Springfield Township.  A very old settlement. Its first name was Schuckenhausen, a German word or combination of German words, seemingly a place name of some section in South Germany and Brought here by a German Family or families from that place.

Obituary
William Frankenfield, aged 82 years, died Thursday at his home in Springfield, Bucks County. The following children survive: Mrs. David Walp, Hottelsville; Mrs. David F. Hess, Bethlehem, Mrs. David Fluck, Richlandtown and Tobias Frankenfield of Allentown. The funeral was held yesterday.

BEAN PICKERS ON A STRIKE

A strike has been instituted among the string bean pickers of the H.S. MILL Canning Company, of Springtown, Bucks County. The Cannery is kept running by uprooting the bean vines and picking the beans therefrom inside of the factory.
